Watches & Wonders 2026 Sleeper Picks

Every year at Watches & Wonders, we get so dazzled by the big brand novelties that we sometimes miss the releases that flew under the radar. Here are my Watches & Wonders 2026 sleeper picks. These are the watches I think will be hailed as some of the best releases of the year.

Tudor Royal Light Blue Dial

Tudor released an updated version of the Tudor Royal including a plethora of new dial options. The whole collection was refreshed with a new case shape with redesigned end links and lugs which prevent the links from touching the case. The bracelet was upgraded to include Tudor’s star-studded “T-fit” clasp. The 40mm and 36mm Royals have been equipped with a new COSC certified movement with a -2/+4 accuracy, while the 30mm was also updated with a COSC certified movement with a -3/+5 accuracy.

I specifically want to call out the new 36mm light blue dial option. The dial is light and contrasts sharply against its high polished dark blue applied stick markers and hands. My eyes were drawn to the dial right away since the contrasting shades of blue really pop, separating this model apart from the others.

It’s hard not to compare Tudor with its sister company Rolex, which I don’t do often as Tudor has grown to prove it’s worth as a standalone brand, but in reality the Royal is the Tudor alternative to the Rolex Datejust. However, the new light blue dial gives you something fresh and new compared to the more traditional dial configurations that you can’t really find elsewhere.

Watches & Wonders always has its headlines, the grails, the limited editions, the six-figure complications. Tudor had plenty of their own this year too, and this light blue Royal is getting buried underneath them. It shouldn’t be. At $3,425, the light blue is doing something fresh for under four grand with a dial that earns a second look. That’s exactly what a sleeper pick is supposed to be.

Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux

Parmigiani Fleurier released one of the most interesting and innovative new complications that is not getting enough notice.

At first glance, the new release looks like a simple time only watch, but in reality there is a hidden chronograph. There are two sets of hands that, at rest, are perfectly superimposed, so the watch reads as a pure three-hander. Hit the monopusher at 7:30 and the chronograph hands emerge from alignment and begin tracking elapsed time across the full dial. No sub-dials! A second press of the monopusher stops the measurement. A third press sends everything back into alignment and the second set of hands disappears. It’s a 362-component movement operating at 28,800 vph with a 60-hour power reserve, all packed into 6.9mm of movement thickness.

The Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux comes in a 40mm stainless steel case with a 950 platinum bezel, sitting at 13mm thick. The mineral blue dial features a hand-guilloché “Grain d’Orge” finish with 18ct gold rhodium-plated applied indices and delta-shaped hands. It’s paired with a stainless steel bracelet and is water resistant to 100 metres. Pricing is listed at CHF 36,900 with availability expected in June 2026.

This is the kind of watchmaking that should be leading the conversation. A hidden chronograph that appears only when you need it, with zero visual compromise at rest, that’s a genuine rethinking of what a chronograph can be. It’s not just for show either, it does bring versatility to the user who wants a time only watch for certain occasions and a chronograph when needed. Parmigiani doesn’t always get the noise they deserve.

Two very different watches, two very different price points, one thing in common: both deserve more attention. A fresh Tudor dial at an honest price and a chronograph innovation that nobody else is doing.
